Fuel Sample Port Installation

Parts and Instructions

I was very uncomfortable with the idea of putting any kind of valve, stoppered hose, or rubber plug under the hood. All I need is for it to
fail and gush gasoline all over the engine, spark plugs, and exhaust manifold.

Mike Glass and I came up with a simple solution that was cheap, has no valves or extra hoses to fail, was easy to install, and complies with
the rules. You can do it for less than $10 in parts from your local Pep Boys (Salvo sucks!).

By a 1/4" NPT tee, three 5/16" hose to 1/4" NPT nipples, one 1/4" plug (all brass), three 5/16" hose clamps and Teflon tape. The nipples have
about 3/4" of barb, so they are not likely to pull off or leak. Put the nipples on either side of the tee (use the Teflon tape on the
threads) and put the plug on the side port. Put this in the fuel line and clamp it. You may have to cut several inches of fuel hose off to
make it a nice, clean, no-kink fit. Clamp this spare hose to the extra nipple and throw it into your glove box; that's your sampling line.

I think this is the safest, cheapest, and simplest solution to a stupid rule. Follow the link below for pictures.
