What fuel pump and reg are people using?
I can't help you with the fuel pump and regulator, but I am using an
"expensive" dry-break setup from McMaster-Carr. I think Ed Davis
also mentioned using the dry break system that is used on boats to
connect travel tanks (aka portable tanks) to the engine.
I used the following parts from McMaster-Carr to make my fuel
acquisition port. Both sides are self sealing so they don't leak
when the connection is broken. I have two days of racing at Summit
Point and three days at Virginia International Raceway (VIR) on the
connectors with no problems.
When separated there is about 1/4 to 1/2 of a teaspoon of fuel that
is "stranded" between the seals, so use a clean, dry, absorbent rag
under the connectors when you break the connection.
There are less expensive options, but I didn't like them. I also
could not put my hands on a set of the "dry break" connectors that
are used on marine "travel" tanks typically used with outboard
motors.
Here are the part number and description, and a link to the
McMaster-Carr page with the parts. I also ordered 5 feet of Tygon
fuel hose (so I can see the fuel in the sampling line) and a set of
hose clamps. The Tygon isn't cheap, but I can see the fuel, and the
hose is very flexible. Too bad it isn't temp rated high enough to
use under the hoods of our cars.
